A Maryland caregiver will spend a year behind bars after she was seen in a disturbing video slapping an elderly woman in the face and striking her with a cell phone.
Roxann Bucchan-Straker, 48, was sentenced Thursday after she pleaded guilty to abusing her 95-year-old wheelchair-bound patient in November 2015.
According to WJLA, the victim was living at the Springvale Terrace Retirement Home in Silver Spring. Bucchan-Straker, a registered medical technician, had been hired to care for the woman.
The victim's son suspected Bucchan-Straker was hitting his mother so he set up a hidden camera in her room.Source
